Before playing blackjack effectively, knowing the rules is mandatory. However, besides those rules, you will encounter other terms that you might not understand. Don’t neglect them, and try to learn them before engaging yourself in a blackjack game. The blackjack terms will not only help you to understand the game better, but you will also be able to apply the advanced techniques to win a game of blackjack.

Anchor: The anchor is the player from the right side of the dealer. It is maybe the most important player, as he is dealt the first pair of cards, and it is also the most suited person to anticipate the game.

Bankroll: the sum of money a player has at his disposal. While the total bankroll refers to all the money from the account of the player, the blackjack bankroll represents the total sum that a player is willing to risk on blackjack.

Blackjack: It was called a Natural 21 at the beginning of blackjack history, when the game was only played in Europe. However, the game developed a lot since it was adopted by the Americans, so a Natural 21 formed by a royal card and an ace is now called Blackjack. This is also the luckiest hand possible, as you will win the game instantly, no matter what the cards of the rest of the players are. This is one of the blackjack terms that is used differently from one country to another.  It is quite easy to learn blackjack.

Blackjack Strategy Chart: A chart containing all the possible combinations of cards and the actions required for each one of them. You can fund other blackjack terms for this chart such as the combination table or the combination chart.

Burst: one of the blackjack terms that refer to a player having a sum greater than 21. In this case, the player loses the game, no matter what the combination of the dealer is. This is a little unfair, as the rule does not apply for the dealer, but it is the house advantage and you must accept it by agreeing with the blackjack terms and conditions.

Card Counting: one of the blackjack terms that doesn’t refer to the playing rules. It is a term used to define the strategy used by some advanced players to anticipate the future hands that will be played. However, it is also one of the obsolete blackjack terms, as every online and offline casino implemented a strategy to protect themselves against players using it.
